Leadership
Creative writer, media theorist, visual anthropologist, social innovator, and ubuntufuturist. Storytelling runs deep in my bloodline. I was named after my great grandfather who is celebrated for being the father of the African novel because he was the first author to write one in his native language, Sesotho. My career started off in London, working in the sales department of some of the UK’s leading media companies selling advertising space, and collaborating with clients to produce advertorial content. Sales just wasn’t my thing but I was intrigued by the creativity of the advertising world, so I pivoted towards communications, and helping organisations connect with people more authentically.
My interests have radically evolved over the years and I'm now more focused on using storytelling to inspire social change and civic participation. I'm a revolutionary at heart and a firm believer in the power of narrative for cultivating active citizenship. My activism is specifically focused on grassroots development, and leveraging the creative economy to prototype decolonised futures for Africa, and beyond, using indigenous wisdom, mimetic programming, speculative mythology, and decentralized technologies. Making Media Move Culture (M³C) is my formula for improving the future. M³C is as much in my head as it is wherever I find myself working. Sometimes its just myself working remotely or from home, and sometimes I work alongside some very inspiring people and ancestors. My mantra for breaking through echo chambers is simple;
"Rise Above Simulation ..."
That is to say; challenge the status quo by raising critical consciousness of the false narratives that seek to manipulate and divide us.
